Award-winning writer, photographer, author and content producer

I’m a freelance writer, photographer, author and content producer. While I live in Melbourne, my work takes me around the world in pursuit of interesting stories, people and places.

I've investigated the supply chain of Australia's seedy illegal wildlife trade for National Geographic’s Wildlife Watch unit. Hiked into the remote reaches of northern Pakistan to raise money for brain cancer research. Traced ancient Maori trade routes across the rocky face of New Zealand’s Southern Alps. Sailed with scientists to Antarctica to collect valuable water samples. I believe modern exploration isn’t defined by borders on a map, but by a curiosity to understand the world and learn about science, culture, and conservation.

I advocate for more sustainable forms of travel, elevate Indigenous voices, and I’m interested in how tourism can be used to address wider issues such as poverty, gender inequality and environmental conservation

I’ve worked with National Geographic, BBC, The Independent, Travel + Leisure, National Geographic Traveller Magazine (UK), Australian Geographic, The Age and Sydney Morning Herald Sun, The Herald Sun, The Independent, Signature Luxury & Style Magazine, Get Lost Magazine, news.com.au, Wellbeing Magazine and Peregrine Wanderer Magazine among others. .

Background

I have had a winding path in my career, which has helped me gather skills that have proven useful in my journalism work.

At University of Melbourne, I studied a Bachelor of Arts with a major in Criminology, which is where I found my interest in crime, social policy and environmental conservation.

I then completed my Juris Doctor at University of Melbourne, and practised as a litigation lawyer investigating personal injuries and occupational health and safety breaches on behalf of the state regulatory body: WorkSafe Victoria.

A career change saw me establish my own media company, Local Eyes Media, which published a digital travel and lifestyle publication and delivered creative services for clients. Later, I joined Intrepid Travel as Global Content Manager and led the rapid growth of the company’s content marketing program.

In 2018, I was awarded the Rising Star Award by the Australian Society of Travel Writers. I’m a member of the Australian Geographic Society, and an ambassador for the Australian Society of Travel Writers.
